3 Major Retailers That will probably accept Bitcoins in 2014

The amount of shops that accept Bitcoin has grown exponentially in 2013, but in 2014 the growth will be even bigger. There are several signs from big retailers that they will accept Bitcoin in 2014, on their website or in their store. We have created a list with a few company’s that will probably accept Bitcoins in 2014.

1. Overstock.com

A few day’s ago their CEO Patrick Byrne released a statement saying that they were looking to accept BTC in their webshop in 2014. Byrne is bullish on Bitcoin and called it “good money”. We expect that they will accept the cryptocurrency in Q1 of 2014.

2. Ebay.com

In September of 2013 Ebay released a blog post on their Ebay Deals Blog asking the question: “What’s the Deal with Bitcoins Anyway?” where they are asking users for their opinion about Bitcoins. They also added a “Virtual Currency” category in their “Coins & Paper Money” section. They also released this video:

We believe that this interest in the cryptocurrency is a sign that they are looking to accept it on their online marketplace in 2014.

3. Paypal.com

Ebay is owned by Paypal, and if Ebay will accept BTC, then why wouldn’t Paypal? Paypal’s President David Marcus already made statements like: “Bitcoin is good, NFC is bad”, and he expressed his interest in the currency. This leads us to believe that Paypal is looking for a way to integrate BTC in their payment platform, in a way that benefits both parties. They want to be a market leader, but at the same time they also don’t want to create a competitor for Paypal. The most logical option would be that you can fund your Paypal account with Bitcoins, and then use paypal to pay on websites. This system makes sure that they receive their transaction fee (their profit model), and millions of websites would then “accept” BTC via paypal.
