Online Electronics Retailer NewEgg Starts Accepting Bitcoin

As of Tuesday, Online Electronics retailer NewEgg has started to accept Bitcoins. Their official press release regarding the news can be found here. NewEgg has partnered with BitPay to process the Bitcoin payments.

NewEgg, and competitor TigerDirect, has been teasing Bitcoin plans for a few months now. The time for teasing is over now, though – Overstock.com began taking bitcoin at the start of the year, a good six months ahead of schedule, surprising many who thought its CEO was merely thinking aloud. Payment processor Coinbase jumped on the case as soon as it heard the speculation, and worked without break to develop an implementation.

There have been rumors of NewEgg accepting Bitcoins for a few months now, and to many this move will seem like its a bit late. Considering their competitor TigerDirect started accepting Bitcoins in January this year. TigerDirect has since then processed more then 1 Million dollars in Bitcoin Payments, so we are very curious how NewEgg will perform
